ANOTHER person has died with Covid at St Mary's Hospital.

It is the second Covid-related death this week and the fourth this month.

The person died on Wednesday, according to NHS data.

On Tuesday, there were 17 people with Covid in hospital, including three on ventilators, government data shows.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 159 Covid deaths in hospital on the Isle of Wight, of the IW's total of 296 deaths (others recorded elsewhere in the community).

The most hospital deaths came in January when 66 people died with Covid. Other months were February (18), March (11), April (2), May (1), June (0) and July (1).

Due to a recent rise in Covid patients, the hospital has restricted visitor access across all wards.

The Island's Covid rolling rate per 100,000 people is currently higher than the UK average.

Advice has been given on staying safe over the forthcoming bank holiday weekend.
