MEN armed with a knife and a baseball bat were arrested following a fight outside Newport Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday.

A police spokesperson said: "At around 1.20am on August 17, officers saw an altercation taking place outside Newport Police Station in High Street, Newport.

"A 25-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possessing a knife, blade or sharp pointed article in a public place and causing actual bodily harm.

"He has been granted conditional bail until September 14 while officers continue their enquiries.

"A 34-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, namely a baseball bat, and was granted conditional bail until September 14 while enquiries continue."
