MANY people completed projects during Covid lockdown, but there aren't many as impressive as Oscar Stretch's garden!

Oscar, 77, was shielding due to being vulnerable with ill health, and got bored.

He was known for his beautiful garden and huge Christmas displays when he lived at Perowne Way in Sandown, and raised £38,000 for charity through his winter wonderlands.

Since moving to Foxes Close his front garden is still admired — especially his bright begonias.

But Oscar kept looking at his back garden, with an urge to do something special.

He got someone in to do the heavy landscaping and create an Isle of Wight shape, which required 11 tonnes of dirt and an 80ft wall of bricks.

He then took over the planting and made it look beautiful. Featuring, of course, his beloved begonias.

The former footballer has struggled with illness recently, but he told the County Press: "I've been in and out of hospital, but I have got so much enjoyment out of doing this project.

"People say my garden is out of this world but as long as you water and feed it, it's quite easy. All I have to do now is keep it watered and fed."

He has included Isle of Wight details such as a windmill at Bembridge, The Needles, and the Nab Tower.
