A HUGE turnout ensured a successful Ventnor Day on Saturday — and the sun beamed down on the town too.

Ventnor Park and the Tee in the Park putting green area were crammed full of stalls and displays from local businesses, organisations and charities.

The two stages had a full programme of music acts, with Ventnor Theatre Group closing the show at the putting green and sea shanties among other delights at the park bandstand.

The Hillmans drew a big crowd, and featured Dick Taylor, formerly of the Rolling Stones and The Pretty Things.

Town mayor Stephen Cockett said: "Ventnor Day 2021 exceeded expectations with unanimous positive feedback from participants and visitors from all corners of the Island and beyond.

"The event showcased fantastic local businesses, entertainers and organisations with the added bonus of a live soundtrack throughout from musicians on two stages in the award winning Ventnor park.

"I know I'm not alone in thinking that summer arrived on the day with a big smile over Ventnor, and we look forward to welcoming visitors to next year's event."
