THERE has been another surge in the number of Isle of Wight Covid cases, according to the latest data.

Public Health England figures released today (Sunday) show 126 new cases.

These, together with yesterday's 79, and 94 the day before, take the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, to 8,799.

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people, in the seven days to August 10, was 235.4.

Yesterday, in the seven days to August 9, that figure stood at 184.8.

Walk-in appointments for the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine continue to be available at the Riverside Centre in Newport.

On Friday, the Isle of Wight NHS Trust said a government data error was to blame for what appeared to be a huge spike in coronavirus admissions here.
