A mobile fish and chip shop will be able to continue to use its Chale Green site after all, according to its latest post on Facebook.

On Monday, The Jolly Fryer posted to say it would not longer be able to park up at what used to be Chale Green Stores.

In its post earlier this week, it said: "We knew this was coming but not quite as quick as it has. We had a phone call from the US, from the owner of Chale Stores whose car park is where we trade from on Wednesdays.

"We're sorry to say that The Jolly Fryer, after over 40 years (in more than one ownership), will no longer be visiting Chale Green."

Now, the firm says there has been a second phone call.

Isle of Wight County Press:

It says, an intervention by Chale Parish Council means it will be able to continue to trade after all.

In a statement last night (Wednesday), the Jolly Fryer said: "Thank you to all who’ve been so supportive and to those who’ve had a very busy day or two getting this sorted – not just for us but for the benefit of all in that area. We are happy to be back where we were and look forward to seeing you again."

The eatery will return on Wednesday, August 18.

The Isle of Wight County Press contacted the site's owner earlier this week and he did did not want to comment. We are asking for a response to this latest post.
