More torrential rain has hit the Isle of Wight this morning (Monday).

There were no weather warnings in force, but that did not stopped the stormy conditions, which have brought sudden, very heavy rainfall. A warning for rain has since been issued (link below).

While some areas escaped the deluge, other parts of the Island have been hit by more severe rain.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue has tweeted to say: "We are receiving flooding calls from the Ryde area. Please only phone 999 if this is life endangering. We would advise you to move valuables upstairs and isolate electrics. The local council could provide sandbags. Floodline number is 03459881188."

Meanwhile, Southern Vectis said: "Roads in Nettlestone, Puckpool and Pondwell are impassable, due to deep flood waters. Route 8 and the Downs Breezer are having to divert from St Helens via Carpenters Road then direct to St John's Church to regain normal route. Diversion will be in both directions.

"Routes 2 and 3 are on diversion between Brading Yarbridge Cross and Ryde Bus Station. Due to the number of road closures our options are very limited."
