POPULAR seafront parking spaces along Cowes Parade have closed today as preparation gets underway for Cowes Week.

They will remain closed for the next two weeks.

Making way for a daytime village along the parade, motorists will be unable to park in the spaces until Tuesday, August 10 at 4pm.

Instead, the usual stalls, stages and space for spectators will be set up.

Before things get into full swing, however, the Isle of Wight Council has issued the public notices to install temporary traffic regulation orders.

Traffic restrictions will temporarily stop through traffic on the Parade, between Castle Hill and Watch House Lane, from 5.30pm Friday, July 23 to 5.30pm Tuesday, August 10.

The roads around the Red Jet Terminal in Cowes will be closed from 3pm to 3am every day, from Friday, July 30 until Sunday, August 8, except Southern Vectis buses will be allowed on Carvel Lane.

A one-way system will be introduced on The Parade and Castle Hill between Bath Road and Queens Road from 5.30pm Friday, July 23 to 4pm Tuesday, August 10.

The Parade's public slipway is also now closed until August 10 at 4pm.

A restriction on disabled badge holders parking will be introduced along The Parade, outside Osborne Court from 9am on Friday (July 30) until Sunday, August 8 at 7pm, or when the event has finished.

The temporary restrictions mean parking will be limited to one hour, with no return within two.
