WEST Wight Sports and Community Centre is offering a whole host of Olympics-esque activities this summer.

The centre has planned five weeks of summer fun and fitness for children throughout the school holidays.

Seven Olympic sports are available as taster sessions or lessons for children, along with many others, all designed to keep kids occupied, fit and healthy during their break.

Olympic sports on offer include skateboarding, climbing, sailing, fencing taekwondo, swimming, kayaking and diving — all available as taster of week-long courses.

The centre is also running mermaid sessions, fun hours in the pool, a half day kids' Olympic morning, teen gym class, snorkelling, raft racing and kids fit.

The charity that runs the centre has accessed funding via Sport England, and is using some of it to allow all children to take part.

Families in hardship who would like assistance to pay for their child’s place can apply for support by contacting the centre's community connector, Adam Tucke, by emailing adam.tucker@westwight.org.uk

"We’re very excited to be able to combine our sports and fitness provision with our community support and provide opportunities for every child to join in and have fun and stay fit this summer," said Clare Griffin for the centre.

"All children deserve opportunities, and who knows — one of these youngsters could progress to the Olympics!"
