THERE has been another substantial increase in the number of Isle of Wight Covid cases, according to the latest data.

Public Health England figures released today (Wednesday) show 75 new cases.

It takes the Isle of Wight total, since the start of the pandemic, to 7,592.

Yesterday, 53 new cases were confirmed, and 34 the day before. A total of 136 cases were recorded across the weekend.

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people, in the seven days up to July 16, was 224.3.

Yesterday, that figure was 209.50.

The UK rate, meanwhile, stands at 472.3. A total of 44,104 new cases were recorded today.
