AN EVENT was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary of volunteers taking over Brighstone Community Library.

A celebratory cake was made by Brighstone local Ruth Godber, and the cutting of the cake was carried out by deputy Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Nick England.

Local authors Jane Good and Rosy Burke presented copies of their books to the library.

Isle of Wight Council leader Lora Peacey-Wilcox awarded children from Brighstone Primary School prizes for a poster competition. The pupils enjoy an annual summer reading challenge.

The celebrations took place on July 10.
