Three year groups from the Christ the King college have been sent home due to Covid cases and the linked self-isolations, required by track and trace.

So many children at the school have been required to learn from home that they will finish the year remotely.

Two year groups should still attend as normal, however, said the school.

An Isle of Wight Council Spokesperson said: "Christ the King College has a higher than usual number of absences this week.

"Years nine, ten and twelve will be educated remotely for the remainder of this week.

"Years seven and eight should attend as usual.

"Emergency provision will be in place for vulnerable students and for those whose parents are key workers."
