THE CASE against an Iraqi national who faces kidnapping, robbery and burglary allegations in the Newport area, stalled following a failure to find him an interpreter.

Kazm Saed, of no fixed address, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court by prison video link on Monday (July 12).

He is due to give pleas to a string of alleged offences that includes kidnapping, robbery, aggravated burglary and burglary and two counts of possessing a bladed article in a public place.

The allegations are linked to recent incidents in the Newport area, including a number of incidents in Riverway and Whitcombe Road, dating between May 28 and June 3.

With no interpreter sourced for Monday's hearing, the 25-year-old was remanded to continue in custody, to reappear at the same venue on July 28.
