A flood alert is in place on the Eastern Yar this morning (Tuesday), after more than half a month’s rain (27mm) was recorded at Wroxall over just 24 hours.

UPDATE: Environment Agency flood alert to be withdrawn

Flooding was expected at Alverstone and Langbridge, however property was not expected to be hit.

At Alverstone, river levels peaked at around 1am this morning.

In Sandown, the river will continue to rise until 10 am today and flooding to Golf Links Road is expected.

The Environment Agency said pumps used to reduce water in gardens may be required and it is due to update its advice at 11am.
