An eight year old from Shanklin has climbed Scafell Pike with her dad and friends, raising just over £500 for charity, so far.

Sophie Hall completed her challenge last month (June) in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities UK.

It provides accommodation for families with seriously ill children in hospital.

Closest to the Isle of Wight is its 52 bedroom house near Southampton children’s hospital.

At 978 metres, Scafell Pike in the Lake District is England's highest mountain.

Sophie said: “I don’t want any children to be on their own without their family if they are poorly.”
