Isle of Wight sailors can hand in up to six out-of-date distress flares at Cowes Yacht Haven, in a week long amnesty which starts on Sunday.
A notice has been issued by Cowes Harbour Commission.
The amnesty runs from July 4 until July 11.
It is only for Islanders and proof of address is required, says the notice.
The facility will be open from 8am until 6pm Sunday to Thursday, and from 8am until 7pm on Friday and Saturday.
Anyone with more than six out-of-date flares can still hand them in, but must pay a fee.
A letter has been issued by Cowes Harbour Master and shared by National Coastwatch Needles on Twitter.
