More than 100 children are self-isolating, after multiple Covid-19 cases were confirmed at Isle of Wight secondary schools.

Three members of Cowes Enterprise College have tested positive, Isle of Wight Council has confirmed to the County Press.

It means 108 pupils from the Ormiston Trust-run school must now learn remotely and may not leave their homes until July 8.

Meanwhile, after a positive Covid-19 case on June 26, 11 students and staff from Medina College in Newport have been required to self-isolate.

A second Covid-19 positive was confirmed on June 29, said Isle of Wight Council, but there were no further requirements for self-isolation.

The two cases follow others at Medina College earlier in June.

Meanwhile, Nine Acres Primary in Newport is awaiting confirmation of a positive lateral flow test, parents have been told.

The at-home tests have to be confirmed by a PCR test.

Isle of Wight Council said: "Public Health has offered advice and high-quality remote learning will be provided for the children throughout this time.

"The schools remain open for all other staff and students."
