TWO new cases have been added to the Isle of Wight's Covid numbers today.

The additional confirmed cases take the Island's cumulative total, since the pandemic began, to 6,934.

The latest daily data from Public Health England has also shown a rise in the Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people.

The rate was 12 yesterday but has risen to 15.5.

However, this remains significantly below the national UK rate, which is currently at 145.40.

Today's data puts the Island as the fourth lowest tier local authority in the UK.

The only areas faring better are North Norfolk (12.4), Great Yarmouth (12.1) and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar in the Western Isles (0).

There remains no-one with Covid in St Mary's Hospital, with only one patient reported this month.
