The top part of York Avenue (at Osborne House and garage) is still being resurfaced, in delayed work currently due to end tomorrow.

Island Roads has warned weather may hamper its efforts.

The bottom part of York Avenue reopened yesterday (Thursday), however, which means a diversion route now uses Adelaide Grove.

It is exactly a week since a host of Red Funnel and Red Jet sailings were cancelled.

Red Eagle had to be withdrawn.

The problems combined with bad weather, closed roads and a burst water main to leave car ferry passengers sat for hours in a one-way system through East Cowes.

Business was lost as shops closed early, or cancelled clients.
