HAVING been refused entry into a seafront restaurant in Ryde, an Isle of Wight man threatened the owner with smashing all its windows, a court was told.

Samuel Chisholm Bohn, of Mill Lane, Newport, admitted making a threat to damage or destroy property on April 19.

He threatened Karl Harding with damaging windows belonging to his business, Harbour House beach bar and grill, on Ryde Esplanade.

"He attended Harbour House with a group of others and caused problems — being verbally abusive towards Mr Harding's staff," said Liz Miller, prosecuting, at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court.

"Bohn and his group were refused entry onto the premises due to the Pub Watch ban on him. The incident was captured on body worn video, worn by door staff.

"Bohn then made threats towards the owner, saying: 'Boss man, boss man! I'll make sure every one of your windows gets smashed — get them smashed every week like we did last year.'

"This was an offence designed to intimidate, coerce or control and was motivated by revenge, having been refused entry."

For Bohn, 28, James Cameron said his client was annoyed because he had gone to the venue with family members from the mainland and did not expect to be refused entry, having been allowed on other occasions.

"He felt aggrieved, but he realises he made threats he shouldn't have done and that his behaviour was inappropriate," Mr Cameron said.

"By not being allowed in was something he found bizarre, but he accepts his behaviour was totally out of order."

Bohn was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
