THERE has been a further rise in confirmed Covid cases for the Isle of Wight.

Seven people have tested positive and been added today (Wednesday) to the daily data produced by Public Health England.

This follows six new cases being added to the total yesterday.

It takes the cumulative total on the Island to 6,918 since the pandemic began.

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people stands at 14.1, having started the week at 14.8. This doesn't reflect today's cases as the data is always five days behind.

The UK rolling rate was 93.7 yesterday and has risen to 97.5 today.

Adult Islanders who have yet to have their first Covid jab have been invited along to the Riverside Centre this week on a first come first serve basis.

The Island's hospital has seen low numbers of Covid patients in recent weeks, with just one patient reported this month, in the latest available update.
