THREE more positive cases of Covid-19 on the Isle of Wight over the past 24 hours have been confirmed.

The number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic has now risen to 6,903, according to the latest Public Health England figures. 

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people is now 12.7 — an increase of 4.9 in the past 24 hours to 17.6, but still well below the UK rate of 80.9.

Last Sunday, the local rate stood at 5.6 — a more than three-fold increase.

Covid vaccine numbers for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have now passed two million.

The highly successful roll-out of the vaccine has now extended to younger age groups with 21 years olds now being invited to book their jab.
