SOUTH Wight Area Youth Partnership (SWAY) is preparing to welcome back two of its supporters after they sailed around Great Britain raising money for the charity.

As their 26ft Contessa, Seahorse, nears the finish in Cowes, plans are afoot for a welcome back celebration.

Susannah Seely and Didi Nicholson both live in south Wight and set off from Yarmouth on April 14 on an anticipated three month, 2,000 mile sail which now looks likely to be completed well ahead of schedule.

Brighstone School is looking forward to welcoming back Billy, the school teddy, who also set sail. It is hoped pupils may be there to escort him safely to land and back to school.

More than £5,000 has been raised to date, with the funds enabling SWAY to support young people and their families with a range of activities, community events, youth sessions and 1:1 provision.

Joanna Richards, chair of SWAY, said: "We will be delighted to see them safely home and celebrate their great achievement.

"We are not sure what time they will be arriving as they are at the mercy of the wind and tides.

"Our thanks go to them as they have done so much to support the work of SWAY."

Seahorse is anticipated to arrive back in Cowes on June 21 but this is subject to change.
