Islanders have been named in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

Graham Biss, who moved to the Isle of Wight in 2006 and it a key played in a host of organisations and charities, receives a British Empire Medal.

After a career in banking and consultancy, he is now the Managing Director of the charity Natural Enterprise, which supports the rural economy and the Island’s natural environment.

He has been a key player in the staging of the annual County Show and helps run the Royal Isle of Wight Agricultural Society.

He's also played a crucial role in the Isle of Wight's Young Farmers Club and Isle of Wight Rural Fund Local Action Group.

No surprise then that Graham has been handed an OBE for services to the Island's community.

Meanwhile Jeremy Dale, founder of SeaSafe, gets an OBE for services to Maritime Safety.

First established in 1966, SeaSafe specialises in marine safety clothing and marine safety products.

Operating from its factory in Cowes, it has pioneered the development of the all-in-one foul weather coat with integrated lifejacket – A coat that becomes a lifejacket in less than 5 seconds.

Jeremy's career started as a boat building apprentice in the 1970s.

He is the Chairman of Cowes Yacht Haven, supports the Miss Isle school of Sip Puff sailing and is a former Vectis Rotary Club president.

He also drives for the Sporting Bears, which gives people the chance to see dream cars up close.

A Queen's Fire Service Medal has been awarded to Steve Apter, Deputy Chief Fire Officer, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
