A TRIAL date has been set for a Newport man charged with grievous bodily harm and assault.

The case of Mark Truman, of Mimosa Close, was heard at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday (June 7).

The 57-year-old was not required to attend, and is charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, common assault, assault on an emergency worker and destroying property.

The charges relate to an incident on January 16.

He has also been accused of damage property a day later, on January 17.

A trial date was listed for September 13, and Mr Truman's case was adjourned to June 21 for an interim hearing.

He has been remanded in custody.
