THE Isle of Wight Youth Jazz Orchestra (IWYJO) has been invited to support vocalist Beverley Craven, in a concert at Hambledon Vineyard on June 26.

The BRIT Award winning singer-songwriter is headlining an open-air ‘music and fizz’ concert at the Hambledon vineyard near Waterlooville.

The event is being held in memory of much-loved local wife and mother, Tara Smith, who was a close friend of the orchestra and who died of breast cancer at the age of 49.

Proceeds will go to Wessex Cancer Trust and Rowans Hospice.

Beverley Craven has spoken publicly about her own breast cancer diagnosis; the first in 2005 and again in 2018.

Jacquie Tarry, from Isle of Wight Youth Jazz Orchestra, said: “We were thrilled to be asked to take part in this prestigious concert, which has been delayed due to Covid-19.

"Hambledon Vineyard is a beautiful venue and as it will hopefully be the first weekend after the final easing of lockdown, it should be a really special event.”

Cam Rossi, 18, who will be leading the band on the day, added: “Rehearsals have been difficult, mainly we’ve only been able to get together online, but we are now able to rehearse together which is great.”
