MONKTON Arts is launching a new arts competition this summer, with £1,000 and an exhibition space available for the winner.

The competition includes both adult and children’s categories, and has attracted some generous sponsors.

Indigo Graphics, Rapanui and Bearsalls’ Arty Card Company, alongside a collective of generous local donors, have made possible a top adult prize of £1,000 and a professional exhibition in the Acons Gallery at Monkton Arts.

Ryde School is generously offering art materials for the children’s prizes with cards produced by the Arty Card Company for the children to become commercial artists.

For several years, the Island's backdrop has been an inspiring place for artists to settle, and Monkton Arts has made entry exclusive to Island residents with no theme or focus other than art.

To enter you will need to first submit a photo of your work online, with a shortlist of 50 pieces on display at Monkton Arts from August 10 to 21, and an awards ceremony taking place on the evening of August 21.

Judges include artist Jeff Dyson and the three resident artists at Monkton Arts, Sandy Kendall, Mandy Bangerter and Karl Stedman.

To enter visit www.monkntonarts.co.uk. An adult ticket is £10, with a cost of £3 for children to enter.
