THE outside play area at St Mary’s Children’s Ward has received a boost with the assistance of the Storeroom2010 Cowes Men’s Shed.

The Shed was approached with a view to helping the Children’s Ward revive its outside area, including the repainting of several benches with vivid colours.

A spokesperson for Storeroom2010 said: "We were delighted to be approached and more than happy to get creative to put a smile on the faces of the children and their parents or carers.

"Although we tend not to take on projects for private individuals, so as not to undercut local tradespeople, we always do what we can to help other Island charities and good causes who reach out to us."

Play specialist leader, Dionne Davies, thanked Cowes Men’s Shed for transforming the seating.

She said: "They look wonderful now with their bright glossy paint and the colours are just perfect for our outside play area.

"The children and families will have somewhere great to sit in the sunshine. I’m sure it will help a lot of children feel better to be able to sit outside.

"We can’t thank the Shed enough, they’ve done an amazing job!"

Cowes Men’s Shed is open to men and women, between 10am and 3pm, five days a week.
