EMERGENCY services have been called to Ventnor this morning (Monday), with an unsafe area closed to the public.

Down Lane in Ventnor, where the services are currently located, remains open but the road leading to the National Trust Downs has been closed.

The Fire Service has confirmed it has teams from Shanklin and Sandown at the location.

Another entrance has also been cordoned off, as shown below:

Isle of Wight County Press:

Police, fire service and ambulance teams had earlier been spotted rushing through Wroxall and Ventnor with their sirens on.

An eyewitness said: "A number of sirened emergency vehicles have been flying through Wroxall towards Ventnor this morning - ambulance, fire and police are all involved."

The Fire Service confirmed this is a police matter.

We have contacted Hampshire Constabulary for further clarification on the cause of the closure.
