A GUILDFORD woman has completed a staggering 68-mile walk around the Island — raising money for charity.

Ruth Coleman, 61, completed the mammoth feat on May 1, traversing the entire Isle of Wight coastal path, which is approximately 68 miles.

She completed her walk in around 30 hours, raising funds for StarFishAsia — a Christian children’s charity which supports schools and homes for disadvantaged children in Pakistan.

The charity’s priority is the Christian minority population who face prejudice, and often lack any other means to educate their children.

Its schools also educate many Muslim, Hindu and Sikh children.

The charity says its projects are run independently by trusted local people who have a vision to bring about change in their communities.

The focus is on education, which it believes will strengthen communities to eventually support themselves, giving them hope and a future.

Ruth was accompanied by her husband, retired local solicitor Ian Pratt, for part of the walk.

She raised almost £3000 for scholarships for students.
