No new cases have been added to the Isle of Wight's total of Covid-19 cases today (Sunday).

It means the total number of cases here since the pandemic began, in March 2020, remains at 6,828.

In the seven days to May 18, there were just 4.2 cases per 100,000 people on the Isle of Wight - well below the national average.

Meanwhile, vaccines are now available for people aged in their early 30s, however appointments are not being made for the AstraZeneca jab.

Instead, health bosses from the region's CCG are asking younger Islanders to wait until they are called for an appointment by their GP.

In some parts of England, surge testing is underway for the Indian variant, however the Isle of Wight's Director of Public Health issued clarification this week that the Island's case was "not a cause to panic, but it is a cause for caution."
