AN ISLE of Wight band has had six tracks released by a UK label — more than 30 years after going their separate ways.

Rendezvous was formed from the ashes of heavy metal band Warrior in 1981.

Members Steve Hargreaves (rhythm guitar) and Hugh Kim Lewis (drums) teamed up with new recruit Tim Prouten (guitar) to form Rendezvous, initially focusing on covers.

A short-lived project, despite never officially splitting up, only six tracks were ever recorded by Rendezvous.

Producer Rod Gammons, known for his work with Ultravox and Eartha Kitt, heard a demo and asked the band to participate in the Feet on the Street Isle of Wight LP project of 1984.

The single, Decisions in Love, was subsequently re-recorded at the producer's studio in Brighstone.

After critical success following the release of the LP in 1984, Dakota Records expressed interest in the song, but nothing materialised and the band's music was never again showcased on a high profile platform... Until now.

UK based ProgAor Records contacted Hugh, proposing the release of Rendezvous' half dozen recorded songs, with a limited run of 300 copies now available for purchase.

Explaining the belated release, Hugh said: "A man from Greece called George Arvantakis who runs his own label knew Decisions In Love from the feet on the street LP, I talked to him and he asked me if there was any more material.

"George introduced me to Francisco from ProgAor Records, I sent him our music and thankfully he loved it.

"We’re really grateful Francisco Dias from the company had the faith to remaster and produce this very professional CD."

A small number of copies of the EP, Rendezvous Archives: 83-86, are available from Andy Barding at AAA Records in Newport at a discounted price of £10 or online at rendezvous.hearnow.com
