ANOTHER incident in which a child has been approached by a stranger has been reported to the police.

The latest happened at Sandown Train Station yesterday (Thursday), according to a warning put out by the Bay CE School in Sandown.

A spokesperson said: "A report has been made to the police that an 11-year-old student was approached by a man at Sandown Train Station on May 13.

"Firstly we would like to reassure you that the student in question is safe and well.

"We understand that whilst rare, these kinds of incidents are very concerning for parents and students.

"Whilst it is important to stay alert, you should not be alarmed. We do ask that you remind your children that they should not get into a car with, or go with, anyone they don’t know.

"As a result of this incident the police will be increasing patrols in the area, and ask that anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity to report it to the school and the police on 101."

It follows two previous incidents.

On April 22, a child was approached and offered sweets by an adult stranger in Caesars Road, Newport.

On May 7, police received a report of a child being approached in suspicious circumstances at 3.17pm on May 7 in the Carisbrooke area.

The child was offered sweets, which they declined before running off.
