A VOLUNTEER coastguard has admitted seriously injuring a man in a head-on collision on The Downs during an emergency call out.
Richard Frank Murray, of Heathfield Road, Bembridge, admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving, to Christopher Slade, near the Hare and Hounds public house, Downend, on August 30 last year, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.
Judge Susan Evans ordered psychiatric and probation reports on Murray in preparation for his sentencing.
The 63-year-old, with no previous convictions, was bailed to reappear for sentencing at the same venue on June 15.
