A WOMAN from the Isle of Wight has been fighting against lockdown loneliness and bringing Islanders back together on the epic 70-mile coastal path journey.
Kim Gratton, 34, has led a group which successfully completed the route after five weeks, culminating on Saturday May 1.
Her group, Who’s Coming with Me?, was created last year in an attempt to bring local communities together and discover new parts of the Island together.
Kim said: "It's much more difficult meeting new people as you get older and I wanted to create a way for people to come together while doing the things they love, whether it's walking, cycling, paddleboarding or cold water swimming.
"It's an amazing feeling to see people who were complete strangers at the beginning chatting away like long lost friends by the end."
The group boasts more than 850 followers and has made a positive impact locally on the fight against loneliness and anxiety, contributing to improved mental health for those involved through regular exercise.
Orlane Witkowski, who completed the walk, said: "I am ever so proud to have been part of this adventure, it was uplifting to meet new people and enjoy the nature while patiently waiting for the world to get back to normal.
"Kim, who also works full time, has been such a strong influence by planning our outings. She has taken so much of her free time to look after walkers of all ages and abilities."
Kim will be continue her journey in the coming weeks with more walks and outdoor activities planned.
Islanders are invited to join the group by visiting the Who's Coming With Me? Facebook page or emailing her at kimgratts@gmail.com.
