THE Isle of Wight has recorded its first week of 2021 where nobody has died of Covid, according to the latest NHS and ONS data.

Figures show the last NHS hospital death was recorded on April 14, and the latest ONS update corroborates this.

The last death in the community was recorded in a care home in the week ending April 16.

This means the week of April 17 to April 23 is the first recorded week of the year to not record a Covid death.

In 2021 alone, there have been 97 Covid deaths in hospital and 84 deaths in the community.

Since the start of the pandemic, there has been 153 hospital deaths and 137 in the community ­— 290 in total.

The week with the highest death toll in the community was the seven days up to January 22, when 27 people died ­— 26 of those in care homes.

The most Covid deaths recorded in a single day was on January 21, when seven people died.
