A COWES man sent naked photos of an ex-girlfriend to her father — and a video of her having sex.

Isle of Wight magistrates were told Lachen Connor Downs made threats by text to send lewd material to the victim's dad on March 11.

The woman did not believe him, following several similar empty threats before.

However, Downs, of Tennyson Road, Cowes, texted her the following day to say he had sent the messages, which she again dismissed.

She then received a message from her father saying he wanted Downs' address after he had received five pictures of her plus a video of her having sex, said Ann Smout, prosecuting, on Monday.

Downs, 23, admitted disclosing private sexual photographs and films, with intent to cause distress.

Ann Smout, prosecuting, said: "The victim told the police she did not give him permission to send the material to her father and that she felt humiliated and embarrassed that Downs had sent them."

In her statement, the victim said: "I am totally mortified he has done this. It has caused me so much upset."

Downs has a previous conviction for harassment, dealt with by Island magistrates last year.

For Downs, Henry Farley said: "He accepts the relationship is over and appreciates the lady does not want to hear from him again.

"He said he should never have done it. He has learned he should not resolve differences by resorting to such tactics."

Magistrates handed Downs a 12-week jail term, suspended for 18 months, with a concurrent 18-month restraining order and probation, to include up to 25 rehabilitation sessions.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £128 victim surcharge.

Presiding magistrate, Gordon Cooper, warned: "If you contact her, you'll get banged up."
