TO ROUND off National Pet Month last month, we are focusing on how much your pets have improved your life — and how they have proved to be a lifeline during lockdown.

We love Charlotte Atkinson's cat, Bettie, who was runner-up in the National RSPCA At Home Pet Show last year and brings so much joy to Charlotte, who lives in Ryde.
Bettie is a three-year-old domestic short-haired cat and Charlotte said: "Bettie is my saviour! I got her when I moved into my first home as some company. I suffer badly with my mental health and she is my comfort and gives me reason to get up every day.
"If she’s not screaming at me for food she will bring me a toy to play fetch! She may be a Tasmanian devil at times but I would be lost without her!"

We also adore Lauren Day's dog, Primrose, who eased the family's pain after they lost two members — one to cancer and one to coronavirus.
Lauren, from Cowes, said Primrose is a two-year-old Havanese dog, who has kept her family sane during lockdown.
She explained: "Prim has helped us carry on. She can speak on command and will hand you her paw."

Hayley Smith of Newport has discovered her Chihuahua, Lola, is a lucky charm.
Hayley said: "We got Lola after seven years of trying for a baby with no luck, then two months after bringing her home I fell pregnant!"
Hayley Smith's dog, Lola, loves cuddles on the sofa.
Another top Chihuahua is Blossom (main image above), who is two years old and belongs to Shari Gore of Cowes. Shari said Blossom is a total diva and loves posing for the camera.
Anne-Marie Coates of Ryde rehomed Freddie the Jack Russell after her family dog, Dibble, died. She said: "We weren’t going to have another dog as the pain of losing our other dog was unbearable, but I just commented on the rehoming page and the next we knew he was brought around to meet us and that was it, he never went back again.
"I was shielded and Freddie has kept my spirits up - walking him every day for about three miles has kept me fit and happy. Freddie is such a happy, friendly little dog everyone loves him."
Freddie, owned by Anne-Marie Coates, smiles for the camera.
Alison Screen and her family, from Calbourne, rescued their Ridgeback dog, Jason, who is five.
Alison said: "He was a rescue pup - we rescued him when he was 12 weeks old and we are his forever family."
Jason, Alison Screen's Ridgeback dog, is just chilling.
Alice Watney's five-year-old Labrador, Bilbo Baggins, is also a star.
Alice, from Cowes, said: "He loves everything and everyone and sits up for a treat on his back legs."
Alice Watney's dog, Bilbo Baggins, is a happy soul.
Also from Cowes is Rentia Flanders whose Sharpei/German Shepherd cross dog, Themba, has been a huge boost to morale.
Rentia said: "Themba has been the best lockdown therapy anyone can ask for. He's been keeping us happy and active and just giving us cuddles when he knows we need it."
Themba says: "Come on, jump!"
Judith Bowbrick, from Binstead, loves her five-year-old pointer cross greyhound, Loucan.
She said: "Loucan is a rescue dog from Cyprus. We got him last year on May 11 through From Foster to Forever. It was touch and go whether he could get here during lockdown, but he did and he has kept my hubby daughter and me sane. He is our world!
"We have lots of lovely walks. He was originally found wandering the mountains in Cyprus and rescued by Rescue and Rehome Cyprus. He was a very nervous dog but who is now so much more confident .....and loves getting food from wherever he can....including our plates!! We wouldn't swap him for the world!"
Loucan loves the beach!
Finally, Adele Norman's Cavapoo, Elmo, is almost six and has Cypriot links too.
Adele, of East Cowes, said: "Elmo was born on the Isle of Wight. He then emigrated to Cyprus for a few years, but missed the island so much he came back to the sunny Isle of Wight over two years ago!"
