WESSEX Cancer Trust is adding bubble fun to this year’s Rainbow Run - in celebration of the charity’s 40th birthday.

The popular family fundraiser, featuring giant inflatables and colour stations, will this year include two new bubble stations.

Rainbow Run - Bubble Fun will take place at Sandown Airport on Sunday, July 18, with tickets going on sale today (Friday).

Now in its third year, the 3km event has so far raised more than £70,000 for Islanders affected by cancer, with nearly 2,000 people taking part. Last year’s event was cancelled because of Covid.

Wessex Cancer Trust’s regional fundraiser, Lorraine White, said: “Rainbow Run is back and, with bubbles added to the mix, the 40th birthday edition is set to be our best yet.

“The combination of giant inflatables, rainbow-coloured powder paint and an amazing atmosphere always makes it such a popular event and we hope, after such a difficult year, the Island will be ready for some Rainbow Run fun.

“Help us celebrate in style by walking, running or dancing your way through the Island’s happiest 3k while raising money for Island families living with cancer.”

The event, which is once again sponsored by ARID Design and Management Consultants, will include live music, food vans and a licensed bar.

Entry is now open and you can sign up at www.wessexcancer.org.uk/event/rainbow-2021

All participants will receive a medal for taking part and those who raise more than £50 in sponsorship by June 18 will become star fundraisers, receiving a branded T-shirt to wear on the day.

For the first time, there are also a limited number of VIP packages available.
