AN ISLE of Wight opera singer and entrepreneur is celebrating the end of lockdown by running a range of vocal exercise classes for wellbeing.

Annalisa Vaughan's sessions will take place in the idyllic setting of Ryde's Pig Leg Lane beside Rosemary Vineyard.

Classes will meet at the vineyard's cafe on Friday mornings at 10.15am, with sessions taking place in the nearby woods.

The singer responded to the pandemic by posting weekly live streams and videos on social media to help people through the anxiety of the pandemic with deep breathing and vocal exercises.

The live streams have, among other things, seen Annalisa show how to ease chest pains and help others in the case of a panic attack or loss of breath.

A student who attended the classes on social media said: "After a six-week fight with Covid, my lungs had collapsed and I needed a brace to help me breathe.

"Following Annalisa's breathing and vocal exercise sessions has helped me and my family cope with symptoms and regain breath control."

The singer teaches in simple terms the secrets of deep breathing and classical vocal technique as used by opera singers, combining exercises with light movements akin to Yoga and Tai Chi, and sees the technique as key to physical and mental wellbeing.

Prior to the lockdowns, Annalisa's vocal exercise classes and voice projection workshops has become eagerly embraced by HMP Parkhurst and some schools in Ryde, receiving enthusiastic feedback.

Coaching sessions will now take place outdoors, weather permitting and advanced booking is essential to manage distancing regulations.
