POLICE say they seized a large quantity of Class A drugs in Shanklin today (Tuesday) — arresting a woman who "violently resisted".

The arrest follows concerns raised by local residents and Southern Housing Group over drug related harm and anti-social behaviour in the area.

Isle of Wight Police launched 'Operation Wisteria' — a "multi-agency approach to disrupting these concerns".

Police sergeant Sharland said: "Using police powers, and with the support of Southern Housing Group and Mick Halliday from the Isle of Wight Council, we conducted three room and person searches across both sites.
