THERE has been a further increase in the number of confirmed Isle of Wight Covid cases, according to the latest data.

Public Health England figures released yesterday (Sunday) revealed no new cases had been added to the Isle of Wight's total.

New data released today, however, shows a further three cases.

The total number of Isle of Wight Covid cases, since the start of the pandemic, now stands at 6,774.

The rolling rate per 100,000 people on the Island, though five days behind, now sits at 8.5.

Yesterday, it was 12.7, and 15.5 the day before.

Earlier today, Health Secretary Matt Hancock revealed plans for a new Covid booster shot.

Describing the virus as diminished but not defeated, he said the biggest risk to progress is a new variant the vaccine does not work as well against.
