Three more people died after contracting Covid-19 in the Isle of Wight's community, in the week to April 2.

Two of the deaths were recorded in care homes and one was in the hospice.

There have been 120 care home deaths since the start of the pandemic, including 72 in 2021 alone. Three people have died at the Isle of Wight's hospice since the start of the pandemic, in March 2020.

Today's data means there have now been 136 community deaths in total, of which 83 have been in 2021.

According to data recorded separately, more than 150 people have also died at the Isle of Wight's St Mary's Hospital.

Yesterday (Monday), against a backdrop of community testing of people without Covid-19 symptoms, four new cases were added to the Isle of Wight's overall total.

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 6,760 cases.

In the seven days to April 7, there were 19 cases per 100,000 people. That remains below average, but means the Isle of Wight is no longer ranked among areas with the fewest number of cases, according to the rolling average.
