FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire in the open in Northwood Park this morning (Monday).
At around 8.30am, a single appliance from Cowes was called to the scene, where a hedgerow was found to be alight.
Pitchforks, a water tank and two hose reels were used to extinguish the fire.
The Cowes crew stood down at 9.48am.
UPDATE:
A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said: "Firefighters from Cowes were mobilised at 8.37am to a hedgerow which was smouldering following a fire believed to be caused by a firework.
"The hedgerow in Ward Avenue was dampened down using hose reels before the stop message came in."
