SUSPECTED ordnance has been discovered in the sea off Bembridge this afternoon (Sunday).
A section of the beach has been cordoned off after the object was spotted near the lifeboat station.

UPDATE 6pm:
An explosive ordnance disposal team was contacted to coordinate disposal of the bomb.
The The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal team has now undertaken a controlled explosion of the device.
