The Floating Bridge is out of service once again this weekend after suffering further technical issues.

The problem is once again to do with the prow, with safety issue regarding one of the connecting cables - both the for the west and east side prow have previously been at the centre of the vessel's downtime.

The boat has racked up a significant period of absence over the last twelve months.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:  “The Cowes Floating bridge is withdrawn from service this weekend (April 10 and 11) as a safety precaution due to concerns regarding a prow cable.

"A temporary launch service will operate until engineers have inspected the vessel on Monday and any repairs are carried out.

"The Isle of Wight Council apologise for any inconvenience."
