THERE is still a small number of Covid patients in St Mary's Hospital, figures show.

The Isle of Wight NHS Trust was caring for four coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday, one more than the previous week.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on April 6.

The number of beds at St Mary's occupied by people who tested positive for Covid decreased by 75 per cent in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 16.

The hospital had no patients on mechanically ventilated beds, the data also showed.

Since the start of the pandemic, the hospital has cared for 733 Covid patients. Of those, 152 died in hospital.

There is a time lag to the data, which is sometimes backdated.
