A SHANKLIN man in his 30s was arrested last night (Tuesday) following a spree which saw him damage a number of vehicles.

The man, who was also making threats to people, was arrested shortly after 7.33pm while walking along Hope Hill.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: "Officers attended Hope Hill around 7.33pm last night following a report of a number of vehicles being damaged and a man threatening people.

"A 32-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of using threatening, abusive or insulting words, or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress and criminal damage.

"He remains in custody at this time."
