A NEWPORT man has appeared in court charged with offences following an incident at St Mary’s Hospital.

Police were called at 6.17pm on Friday, April 2, to a report of a man on the roof of the hospital, where it is alleged that tiles were thrown from the roof towards people and vehicles in the car park.

A number of vehicles belonging to NHS staff and two police vehicles were damaged. No-one was injured.

Mark Anthony Booth-Pain, 41, of Heath Close, was charged with affray and seven counts of criminal damage.

He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday) and is next due to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on July 7.
