AS THE Isle of Wight's temperature drops through the night, the gritters will be deployed to precautionary routes.

Island Roads said they will be gritting from 4am tomorrow (Tuesday).

They Tweeted: "Winter Service decision is 10gmsqm treatment of precautionary routes commencing at 4am. Please drive according to the road conditions."

BBC Weather is saying the Island could see temperatures fall to minus 2 tonight.

It also says: "Tomorrow will be another windy and cold day with the continued risk of a few snow showers, especially in the afternoon. Cloud will thicken in the afternoon too."

The IW Met Service says: "A cold bright start but cloud will develop through the morning with a scattering of soft hail or snow showers during the afternoon although we aren’t expecting anything on the ground other than a brief dusting."

Precipitation 0-1mm with localised snowfall possible.
